Sat. Oct 3

The Captain hosted the Cruise Critic party this morning at 11:15. He and Rich Joseph, the cruise director, stood for pictures. The ship provided coffee and danish and a pay bar. What an honor to have the Captain pay such attention to our group. Again we had a very good turnout.

Catsdinner (Sarah) got an email from Apia saying that our tour would still operate, but that the beach and lunch stop would have to be changed to another location – Lalomanu beach was apparently damaged by the Tsumani.

Some had to choose between John Maxton-Graham's final talk on cruise ships and the party. Had we been ending our trip in Sydney we would have picked the enrichment lecture over the party. As it is we hope to make the lecture next leg.

Yesterday, the sea was like glass. Today, not like glass. Rocking and rolling is a good description of last night and all day today. I woke in the night with the makings of sea sickness. Thank goodness for Bonine. I've been taking ¼ pill every four hours all day. I was real proud of myself up until now. They closed the pools because of the slosh.

The movie today was Mutiny on the Bounty. Clark Gable and Charles Laughton. It was interesting watching the ship on the screen rocking and rolling while in the ship's theater we were doing the same. They did use Tahiti for the film location. When they made the newer version, Tahiti was so built up that they had to film in Moorea. (both os get pronounced: it is Mo Orea). We will be in Moorea in three days – on Tuesday.

After the movie, we went to the Art Auction. I wish I had a way to find the value of a framed lithograph of Michael Godard's “Poker Pimps”. I can't see buying in the dark.

  1. That is great news for your Apia tour, sorry there was damage at the original beach. Wow, I hope the captain and CD pay as much attention to our CC group, that is really an honor. I usually take one Bonnine each night at bedtime, and the rocking sea usually doesn't affect me. Hope that you get your glass sea back again soon.
